Meal Planning Monday 07/04/14

Last week we stuck to the meal plan every day apart from yesterday. Yesterday I ended up having the boys on my own for most of the day so I took us off down the beach and we had fish and chips.

This weeks meal plan looks like this:

Monday:

Boys - Omlette and Beans
Us - Chicken Balti - Hairy Bikers recipe

Tuesday

Homemade Pizza

Wednesday

Chicken Traybake - Recipe Delicious Magazine

Thursday:

Meatballs and Spaghetti - Jamie Oliver recipe - Ministry of Food

Friday:

Vegetable Biriani and Lentil curry - Hairy Bikers recipe

Saturday:

Pick and mix tea (party tea as the boys would call it)

Sunday:

Definitely roast lamb!

Hope you have a happy week. What are you eating?

Meal Planning Monday

So from here on in I will be posting our Meals that I am planning on for the week. This is for a couple of reasons. The first being so that I can shop accordingly and reduce my food bill and the second is that if I don't do this I always spend ages every day trying to decide. It's a complete waste of time.

Most days we eat the same but on the odd day the boys have something different as they've been at preschool in the mornings and are tired and grumpy when they get in. Always easier to go with something failsafe for them!

So Here's this weeks.

Monday:-

Boys - Omelette and Beans
Us - Chilli con carne and rice

Tuesday:-

Homemade Pizza with chosen toppings-the boys are desperate to make the dough!

Wednesday:-

Red Thai beef and aubergine curry in the slow cooker

Thursday:-

Jacket Potatoes and help yourself fillings

Friday:-

Boys - Cereal
Us:- Steak

Saturday:-

Homemade chicken curry

Sunday:-

Roast leg of Lamb (I have this in the freezer)

I'm also planning on a bit of baking, maybe some muffins and flapjacks but haven't decided yet.

What's on your menu this week?

Meal planning=less waste

So one of the many resolutions I made this year was to reduce the amount of good I waste. I never intentionally let food go to waste but I am always suckered in to the offers and buy one get loads free deals.

One way I thought to combat this was to plan my meals for the month, I've done them before weekly but only sporadically and half heartedly.

So how's it going I hear you ask? It's brilliant! I look at my print out on my freezer to see what needs to be defrosted and go from there.

I can honestly say I've stuck to it pretty much with a change here and there to use up leftovers from a previous meal but what really hit home today was putting the bins out for rubbish collection tomorrow. We normally have 5-6 black sacks-I know it's terrible (made worse by the fact I compost all fruit and veg). Well today with clearing both bins I only have two and a half black sacks. This is amazing bearing in mind that one of those sacks had nappies and cat litter in from the outside bin.

I'm honestly shocked that it has reduced this much already. Now I'm on a mission to reduce it to two sacks only, one for the outside bin and one for indoors!

How do you ensure your waste is kept down? Any ideas to help me reduce even further (other than to get rid of the cats!) are greatly received!
